NAMM Remembers Isaac Hayes, Music Education Champion
Many people knew Isaac Hayes as a legendary singer, producer and entertainer. But NAMM also remembers his important work in support of music education. In March 2004 he and Rosanna Arquette joined members of Congress and their kids in Washington, D.C., for a “Music Makes a World of Happiness” party. The inspiring event featured hands-on music making, drum decorating and an instrument petting zoo. Later that day, Hayes attended a Congressional lunch meeting for 150 members of Congress and their staff members and spoke passionately about the numerous benefits of music education.
